MANAHATTA and WIND TOWER

Inspired by geological formations of Manhattan Island from past to the present times, artist Tom Patti’s vertical twelve-foot glass mural titled MANHATTA and his WINDTOWER, the lobby’s kinetic metal sculpture, represent nature revealed by earth, water, atmosphere and the primary forces of air, gravity and temperature. Conceived to reflect the relationship between humanity and the environment and how the geology of wind and extreme events determined the location of Madison House in what is now named NoMad, MANHATTA is a transparent historical overlay of time as a record of geological and human events superimposed on Manhatta (“hilly land”)  - a name that was given to the wilderness island by the Lenape, Manhattan's first native American inhabitants.

An integral feature of Madison House lobby, WINDTOWER is anchored in space by thin cables connecting it from ceiling to floor.  The building’s airflow system generates a sequential, rotational movement. Its dramatic kinetic presence reveals an unfolding rotary motion that can be viewed from the roadway, pedestrian street level, revolving door entryway and the interior lobby to create a sense of beauty and discovery.- a signature statement of Madison House.

VILLA LULA | COSMIC TRILOGY
“Echoes of Light Over Cannes” is site-specific, defined by: LAND (roads, pathways, stone walls, channels), water and sky; WATER (Mediterranean Sea meets the coastal land edge); and SKY (star constellations over the Cannes region viewed from Villa Lula on Bastille Day 1789). All are re-imagined as one. The artwork is a cosmic trilogy - a series of three dramas created as one artwork in two parts specific to the artwork location.
