FLIGHT DIALOGUE, the artwork for Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina is made of high performance, level 2 security glass and composed of diagonal, forwardly progressive slanting shapes - creating a horizontal motion that begins to echo an aircraft shape. Composed of mirrorized, optically reflective surfaces positioned above eye level – that suggest sky and limitless space, the artglass is linear (67 transom panels covering over 320 feet in length) extending a presence over a broad area that circumscribes Terminal D’s clear, undefined space with a siteline specific band of transformative surface and color from blue to amber. Upon entering the international terminal the traveler experiences a unique sense of place. The art’s optical glass banding directs the eye forward as it unfolds with the viewers motion.
