 BERKSHIRE MUSEUM

The artworks are complementary; one is geometric, the other is organic, and viewers will observe colors changing and shapes merging and expanding as they approach the installations.

ECHOES IN SPACE and VELOCITY ECHO were completed for the Berkshire Museum in Patti’s hometown of Pittsfield in June 2012. The project introduced site-specific art into three interior locations: the vestibule entrance area, the admission reception area and the natural science room. These works have transformed the way patrons entering the museum interact with the space, enhancing the museum experience for child and adult visitors. Defined and influenced by our existence in the universe and the relationships between cell structure, particle physics and the forces of gravity and light, these pieces are abstract, non-objective art. No one portion of the work is more important than the whole essence, creating an experience of shapes and patterns open to the viewer’s personal interpretation. The visible surface depth within the reflective and light transmitting glass emulates vast and infinite space, contained within a realm of curiosity and imagination. The artworks communicate to the visitor the excitement of fusing art, science, and natural history in the museum environment, reflecting both the artist’s personal history and the history of the Berkshires itself.
