 MTA ROOSEVELT AVENUE - QUEENS

NIGHT PASSAGE is seamlessly integrated into the structure of the main glass wall of the FXFowle designed Victor Moore head house, making it one with the architecture. The trapezoidal shaped windows fit into the complex steel framework of the wall to open and pivot. The impact-resistant art glass is layered with a plasma composite material to break up light into its spectral component; tone and hue shift depending on the viewer’s location, as well as the light from outside, and the time of day and year. The curved wall defines the space, framing the interior so the effects of light passing through the glass drift down onto passengers moving through the station.
